The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and the Association of the BCS (Foreign Affairs) Ambassadors (AOFA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday at foreign office envisaging mutual cooperation and support.
Foreign minister external publicity wing issued a news release regarding the signing ceremony.
The MoU was signed in the presence of the foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali and the state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam by the foreign secretary Shahidul Haque and ambassador and also the association president M Mohsin.
The release said, “AOFA has the former envoys of the country as its members and its mandate is to promote Bangladesh’s friendly engagement with neighbouring as well as regional countries”.
With the purpose of studying evolving international scenario, their ramifications and impact upon foreign policy of Bangladesh, the association will host at least one event a year, the release added.
It also said, “The association will also explore opportunities and employ its members’ experience to further strengthening Bangladesh’s relations with other countries, in particular with the neighbouring countries, and international organizations.”
The association will organize regional conference in Dhaka or, participate in similar events in other regional countries, it added.
