Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon has urged the Bangladesh government and the competent authorities to investigate all allegations of electoral fraud in city corporation polls.
UN spokesperson Farhan Haq said this while responding to a journalist during his daily briefing session on Tuesday.
Ban Ki-moon also urged the opposition to use the democratic institutions to express its concerns.
UN spokesperson said, "The Secretary-General is aware of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s decision to boycott the Dhaka and Chittagong elections amid allegations of electoral fraud".
"The Secretary-General appeals to all parties to express their differences through peaceful means and reiterates his call on all political leaders to find a peaceful resolution to the current situation", he said at the briefing.
